Flairs @ Blomvlei Primary – sponsored by Flexitrade
Flairs launched its second schools program at Blomvlei Primary in Hanover Park on 1 August 2013. Flexitrade sponsored 15 children from Blomvlei Primary to be involved in the Flairs program until the end of March 2014, as well as donating equipment for the program to run.
Flexitrade’s business is located around the corner from Blomvlei in Ottery and they wanted to see their surrounding community being uplifted. Blomvlei is also owner Sadicka Isaacs’ Primary School. Principle Petersen expressed how wonderful it is to see ex-pupil’s giving back to their school together with companies who can see the needs in the community. She also expressed how exercise was going to benefit these children’s education for the long term. She hoped to see more sponsorships in the future, so that every child in the foundation phase could be exposed to the program. Flexitrade attended the official launch with all their sales reps, who also got involved in the warm up together with the children. A fun morning was had by all.

Flairs @ Duneside Primary – sponsored by Z Dennis & Associates
Flairs launched its schools program at Duneside Primary in Mitchells Plain at the end of July 2013. Z Dennis & Associates sponsored 10 children from Duneside Primary to be involved in the Flairs program for the rest of 2013, as well as donating equipment for the program to run.
Zelnita Dennis, an ex-pupil of Duneside wanted to give back to her old school, which had given her the foundation for the success in her life. She found the Flairs program would fill a gap in the children’s education that was lacking, bringing balance of sport and exercise to the children’s education. Zelnita was excited to be back at the school and seeing the pupils in action, learning to skip with owner Sadicka Isaacs. Principle Chateau expressed his gratitude to Zelnita for the sponsorship, as this will really assist the school. We know that this will be the start of a wonderful relationship and project and we hope to see more ex-pupils of Duneside Primary who own their own business investing in the future of our country from their old school.

FLAIRS 2013 WINTER DISPLAY
Once again the families of Flairs Gymnastics gathered at John Graham Primary School for the Flairs 2013 Winter Display. This year saw the families getting down and sweaty with their gymnasts, participating in the warm up and dance of the Baby Bears and Tiny Tigers. The Little Lions and Flairs gymnasts also showed off all their skills. We had the whole gym performing the Flairs Gym for Life sequence, as well as a group of Flairs who created their own display item.
We were most privileged to have Paul Delport hosting the event, as well as Ms Lokiwe Mtwazi (Executive Director of Community Services) and Mr Gert Bam (Director of Sport) for the City of Cape Town in attendance. Well done to all the gymnasts and thank you to all our generous sponsors for our raffle.

Aimee – Junior African Champion
Aimee won her Aerobic Gymnastics section at the African Championships that were held at the University of Pretoria in December 2012. The Championships were attended by gymnasts from Algeria, Senegal, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique and South Africa.
At the competition Aimee competed in the qualifications with an almost flawless routine to clinch the top spot heading into the finals. However, she needed to improve her performance to secure the top position, and this Aimee did.
Aimee has always dreamed of representing her country. She has been doing gymnastics since she was 7 years old and worked tirelessly at correcting mistakes and problem areas in her routine to qualify for the South African Team. Hearing the national anthem of South Africa played after she received her gold medal will be a memory that will stay with Aimee for the rest of her life.
